Syracuse Inner Harbor

Syracuse Inner Harbor Master Plan

The master plan of Syracuse’s Inner Harbor proposes to create a mixed-use community using the principles and ideas of “New Urbanism.”

The goal of the development is to create a new neighborhood preserving access and public use of the water and parks with a strong identity and density of urban fabric emulating the character and diversity of traditional urban waterfront development. QPK Design provided complete 3D visualization and dynamic working 3D models.

The architectural style proposed is a complementary blend of contemporary architectural styles with the local vernacular. The most relevant examples are Farmers Market, Downtown, Franklin Square, and public buildings along the Erie Canal waterway. The intention is to transform the Inner Harbor into an attractive, upscale waterfront center.

A promenade will link to a landscaped park; and a bike trail will run along the park merging with the promenade at observation platforms. The existing historic structures will be renovated and integrated into the new development. This plan will revitalize the most significant Erie Canal harbor located next to Syracuse’s Downtown.
