Colgate University - Donovans Pub Renovation

Interior Renovation

QPK Design provided design and construction administration services for the interior renovation of Donovan’s Pub located on the ground floor of the James B. Colgate Student Union building to recreate a previous social space for students and staff drawing from a traditional Irish pub theme.

In recent years, Colgate University used this space as a temporary circulation library during construction of the new Case Library and Geyer Technology Center.  In 2007, after construction was completed on Case-Geyer, the Pub was left as a dark shadow of its former self.  This 3,900 SF restoration transformed the Pub back into a fully functioning bar and restaurant space for student-planned events, as it had been in the past years.  The renovation modernized the pub and features new lighting, floor and wall finishes, window treatments, furniture and built-in seating, a bar that was handcrafted by a local carpenter, and audio/visual component systems (i.e. large projection screen, multiple flat-screen TVs and new sound system).
