Elmira College

Master Planning and Design

QPK Design landscape architects have been working with Elmira College since 1999 on the master planning and design implementation for campus wide site improvements.

The master plan and subsequent site improvements have transformed the appearance of the campus by replacing the central, bisecting public street and rectilinear walkways with a serpentine walk network.  One of the design challenges was to accommodate fire truck access through the winding walkways to the buildings.  Site improvements included athletic facilities, parking lots, paver walks, lighting, irrigation, underground stormwater management facilities and landscaping totaling over $3.5M in cost.

Follow-on projects include Meier Residence Hall, a new building designed to appear that it was constructed in the early 1900's, the Cowles Hall renovation and landscape improvements to the President's residence.
