Welch Allyn - Building Consolidation

Site Design

QPK Design planned and designed the expansion of an existing manufacturing and administrative campus which serves as the Welch Allyn Global Headquarters. Particular attention was given to preserving mature trees and overall landscape character. Extensive transplanting was done. Existing parking areas were reconfigured and expanded to accommodate 800 cars. A perimeter loop road was developed to improve efficiency of operations to shipping and receiving loading docks and maximizing pedestrian safety.  An entrance plaza was developed at the new visitor entrance to enhance the arrival experience. A dining patio adjoining the cafeteria provides employees the opportunity to choose between indoor or outdoor dining. Stormwater management facilities included several detention ponds that were designed to be aesthetic elements in the landscape.

A follow on project included a mile long fitness trail traversing the campus for employee wellness relative to exercise as well as pastoral respite in the rolling wooded landscape and shoreline settings. A second follow on project at the Lodge at the north end of the campus expanded parking as well as improved pavements and walks for this unique corporate meeting and wedding venue.  Existing landscaping was preserved and supplemented to screen views and site lighting upgraded to enhance the facility character.
