The Hamilton Initiative LLC was developed to foster the growth and development for the mutual interests of the community and Colgate University. In the heart of the village, their cornerstone project was transforming a vacant c.1914 building of theater origins (long since converted to a warehouse) back to its theatrical roots.
The iconic image of The Palace Theater is the entrance marquee highlighting the façade, appealing to the college and resident communities. To maximize flexible usage, a three-story entertainment venue was achieved by lowering the basement floor slab over two feet, providing adequate space for a game room able to offer different operating hours. The first floor houses a dance floor, stage, and bar.
The interior design focuses on bright colors, bold spatial layout, and targeted lighting. Now home to “Arts at the Palace”, a non-profit organization, the facility is used for high quality visual and performing arts programming integrating music, dance, theater, and multi-media events.
